While on his way home, Scott Landry saw a woman on the country road he was traveling. He stopped to help but she ran from him. As he caught her, she fainted. He noted that she was bruised and dirty and scared of him. When he started asking questions, he realized that she had no idea who she was or what had happened. Scott did the only thing he knew to dohe took her home with him to High Lonesome Guest Ranch. His housekeeper called the local doctor (who happened to be dating Scott) and Dr. Joanna Coleman made a house call.

Scott’s seven year-old daughter Willow named the woman “Beth” because she had to have a name. “Beth” loved ranch life and she loved that little girl whose mother had died four years ago. Flashbacks plagued “Beth” but she couldn’t see a facejust the overall images of a man. She also saw flashes of a little girl that she was sure must be her daughter. She was afraid when she had the visions of the man but wasn’t afraid of anything relating to the beautiful child.

This is my first Stacey Coverstone novel but I don’t intend for it to be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed how she handled the subject of amnesia as well as the possibility of spousal abuse. The two main characters were emotionally scarred but found promise in their budding relationship. Coverstone’s writing style explored the underlying issues, including the amnesia, well. I totally could relate to their believable actions.

There were several supporting cast members that enhanced this great book. The sensual tension was evident but was handled skillfully. There was suspense woven throughout the storyline. I literally couldn’t quit reading. I loved this book, including the shocking ending.

From the first page until the last word, the story flowed. There were no slow points. It was written in such a manner I actually felt that I was there in Ghost Rock, New Mexico. This author has a unique way of presenting her story in a fast-paced, page-turning way that I loved.
