| Chrissie Hayward, a simple fashion magazine photographer is trying to locate her slacker coworker, Kat Jones. Chrissie is stunned when Kat phones insisting a gypsy cast a spell on her sending her back in time. She needs Chrissie to find the gypsy fortune teller and reverse the dilemma. Unfortunately, something went haywire and Kat, Lancelot and Guinevere are stuck in the twenty-second century. Chrissie wishes Kat would stop messing around. Finally Chrissie agrees to go see the gypsy for help, only to find herself cast in a spell and lying in the dense forest where Robin of Locksley lives. Robin turns out not to be such a sweet Prince as the storybooks express allowing Chrissie to see a different side to him. Of course he is still loyal, fierce and incredibly handsome. Chrissie considers staying in Sherwood Forest and robbing from the rich. Then again her face could land on a most wanted poster. To complicate matters, she is nowhere near Kat, who calls her again, on the cell phone, wondering what happened. While Chrissie tries to figure out her next move, it appears she and Robin grow closer, making her wonder how she will not only find a way to help Kat but return to the present day.
A Hoboken Hipster in Sherwood Forest is an entertaining tale. There were some delightful moments shared between Chrissie and Robin. I thought it was a nice twist with Kat and Chrissie able to use the cell phones, and Kat worrying about the cost of the phone calls. Chrissie is a strong character who lets no one get in her way. Robin is indeed respectable and is almost eager to please Chrissie in every way, after he gets to know her. Marianne Mancusi pens a fast-paced read with tantalizing characters that jump off the pages. She creates a refreshing read that takes on a different shape with Robin of Locksley while charming the reader with every turn of the page.
