| Ashley wasn't sure if a city bred account manager could make it as a country wife on a remote planet, but with the solar flares making a shambles of Earth, she had little choice but to sign up for the next shuttle to planet Alpha. She'd met her two arranged husbands briefly on board the shuttle but it wasn't until she arrived at the cattle ranch where Boyd and Keeton would be working as hired hands did she tell them what was left out of her application. As well as not knowing about the land, gardening and animals, she was not the experienced woman they had been expecting. Keeton had always shared with Boyd because he needed his friend around to control his need for rough sex. How was he going to deal with a virgin bride?
The Hired Hand's Dilemma is book three in “The Men of Space Station One.” The stories revolve around colonizing planet Alpha. In this book, the settlers encounter strange creatures and diseases they weren't warned about on their shuttle voyage. The budding relationship between the three main characters, especially with Keeton's fears of accidently hurting Ashley, is further complicated by all the strange things the planet imposes on them. I really like the way the author kept me wondering what would surprise them next. They have the help of some of the characters from an earlier book, and there are hints about future stories, but it still works well as a standalone book. There is plenty of action, unknown dangers, and an interesting story of two men romancing a woman who is already their wife, yet not knowing exactly how to go about it. It's good to see strong men unsure of themselves from time to time. I liked the characters and intend to go back and read the rest of the series. Enjoy.
