Cal Whittaker notices as he returns home from a week-long business trip that the sign hanging on his property has been changed. It says Whittaker Thoroughbred Ranch instead of farm. For five generations this has been a farm and he wants to know what has happened while he was gone. Never would he have guessed the truth. His mother, in another of her wild matchmaking schemes, has been emailing a woman needing a ranch for the set of a movie. She has been corresponding with this woman using Cal’s name. They now have begun changing his farm into the ranch for the movie based on her romance book. Cal is a lawyer and is afraid to tell the truth because of fear of lawsuit. Also there is a chance that if charges are made his mother could be guilty of breaking the law. Autumn Blessing does not understand why Cal is so different in person. She had hoped for the sweet man that she had corresponded with to be the answer to her problems. Although he seems different from what she is expecting she finds herself uncontrollably drawn to him. As animals begin to arrive on the property Cal faces ridicule from the people in town. He finds that he has another reason for not breaking the contract with Autumn. He is falling in love and afraid that she will leave him when she discovers the truth behind the lies.

Judith Gilbert has written a humorous and passionate story that is sure to appeal to everyone. The colorful characters will have you laughing out loud as the Whittakers go about trying to become what is agreed to in the contract. I loved the fact that they had to learn to ride a bull and there is a calendar that they will have to pose for. These events will provide for some highly entertaining moments. When the background story comes out about Autumn it is easy to see why she is the caring vulnerable person she is and it is hard for her to cope with being lied to. She wants Cal but is afraid to risk her heart. But some things are beyond a person’s control. The chemistry between them is electrifying and leads to some highly passionate encounters. The dialogue is well written and flows smoothly, conveying the thoughts and emotions of the characters. The author’s wonderful descriptive ability brings this action packed story to life. Autumn is a woman that can never turn away a wounded animal. She is very involved in animal welfare which leads her into animal rescue and also provides for some fun in the story. Just wait to you read about the vampire bunny this is truly hilarious. I recommend this story to all that enjoy a humorous story that leads to romance and passion.
