| Promise is human, married to two men and betrothed to another. She needs a strong and able slave to help work her fields, so she sends her land foreman to the auction to purchase some help. He returns with Tranth, a Gryffin, who put himself on the auction block to earn money for the care of his friend. Promise agrees to her foreman cutting Tranth’s barbs for their safety, not knowing the damage cut barbs would do to the Gryffin male. When he finds out who ordered this barbaric deed, Tranth promises death to that person, so Promise can not bear to tell him the truth.
I don’t know how I missed this series, but this is the second book of it and I’m certainly going back and picking up the first. A very different premise, with an unusual plot line in that it’s normal for the human female to have more than one mate, while it’s normal for the Gryffin male to have many females in his “fold”. The mating rituals will certainly leave you craving more as Ms. Hayes builds exquisite sexual tension while at the same time forming her characters for a mind-blowing climax.
