| Ayda Rogers is working on her doctorate. Doing so in a Scottish castle is her dream come true. As she works her way through the restoration of the thousand or so paintings in the house, she becomes more interested in the people who once lived in there that gave it such a history. She never expected to find herself delving into the history the castle holds or wanting to give in to the sexy and tempting Hunter.
Hunter is the heir apparent and is doing his best to woo Ayda. The real question is whether he wants her in just his bed or as his wife. Marriage for money seems to be a common theme with his family but marriage for love has happened as well. Before the story is even started we get a lovely history lesson of our own. In fact much of this story is filled with rich history and much more of it seems to be about the people who filled the castle halls and called it home. We learn more about the castle and its history from first hand accounts, the stories told by the family take on their own life. With romance in the thirteen hundreds, a ghost who saves women in trouble, Vikings, marriages for love, and a romance between the heir apparent and a lovely art expert, this story has something for everyone. Jennifer Mueller has made history come to life in this interesting romance. If I were to be honest, I would have preferred to hear more about Hunter and Ayda. Since there were so many other stories imbedded into plot I found that the main character didn't have as much story time as I had thought she would. Everyone else in history seemed to have their story being told at some point or another. Also at times I found myself easily losing interest in parts of the story. All in all it was a lovely and interesting story that I honestly enjoyed.
