Hannah runs away from the Breeder Plantation because she's tired of being used for a brood mare. Having children only to have them taken away and given to wealthy couples who can't have children is terrible. The only man she wants is gone and his father and brothers who own the plantation are making plans to breed her. Her only chance is to escape and through the underground railroad finally make it to the Free States where she can live her life and peace. When the hitman comes after her she never expected it to be the one man she's always loved.

Jacob Romero has always loved Hannah. Hitman school is used to train men on how to track and recapture slaves, after being accepted he asks his father's permission to marry Hannah and is denied. Before leaving he makes his father and brothers promise not to touch her. When he finds out that they are getting ready to breed her he comes home to claim the woman he loves. On his return he finds that Hannah has run away and he's picked to go and bring her back. Finding Hannah is no problem, but once he does he can't fight the attraction he's always felt. Together they will have to find a way to leave his father's tyranny behind and finally be together in the Free States.

This story is a little to reminiscent of the time of slavery. Women being breeded against their will and hunted like animals when they escape, an underground railroad to help slaves make it to the Free States, go back a couple of centuries in US history and you have this story. Even though this story uses a lot of true aspects about slavery, it gives great insight into the way plantations were really run. Hannah was strong enough to fight for her freedom and Jacob was strong enough to stick by the woman he loves. If you have a sensitive spot where any type of slavery is concerned then you might not want to read this book, but if you're interested in an inside view of what slavery is really like and a love story as old as the concept itself, then pick up A Hitman For Hannah.
