| Due to a verbally abusive and manipulative boyfriend in college, Amanda has been hiding behind too big clothing and efficiency. Her boss Mark would be lost without her. Too bad he regards her as a piece of office furniture. On her birthday, her crazy Aunt Lilly decides to cast a spell to find Amanda a man. It backfires of course. Aunt Lilly and Amanda’s sister Sarah also hid her bland wardrobe and replaced it with a more flattering one. On Monday, Mark and the rest of the office don’t know what hit them. Amanda is not only gorgeous, but she says what is on her mind, she can’t help it! Her more attractive side makes Mark want to reconsider his rule about not mixing business with pleasure.
This is a really well done ugly duckling story. A cruel boyfriend took Amanda’s confidence away, and she hides from relationships. Her crazy family worries about her and decides to help her, whether she wants help or not. Aunt Lilly and Sarah are wonderful characters. Amanda’s transformation really turns her life around and it was fun to see her come out of her shell. Mark is as stubborn as they come, but he can’t resist. The other characters are very vivid; from Mark’s family and friends to the receptionists at the office. This is a really great story. I hope the author decides to tell us what happens with Tony and Sarah next.
