Dea Lacey has traveled a long way trying to find safe haven, when she sees a sign saying sanctuary. After taking her cousins son, Garret, into her home, she knew he needed her protection but returning to a home where the true father resides was taking a huge risk. When she meets Garrets father for the first time and he sees his son, he cannot believe his eyes. Can Dea help Jesse see that he can be a good father again and miracles really can happen? Or will his foolish pride cost him the most important thing in his life?

Jesse McTavish has a hard time dealing with the fact that even when a person has lost a love, life continues. He had no idea his life would become even more complicated when he meets Dea Lacey. She brings him a boy claiming to be his son, and the first time he sees Garret, there is no mistaking the resemblance. But Jesse is also reminded of his dead son, Alex. But Alex died in a fire that left Jesse feeling entirely responsible and discarding his faith. He doesn't know if he can accept anymore sorrow. A boy needs his father, but can he allow Garret entrance into his heart?

HOME FOR CHRISTMAS is a story that pulls the heartstrings of the reader. This story touched my heart and was one that I could relate to in many ways. Ms. Stahel really delivers in this short story. You feel their heartache, pain, happiness and joy, not to mention wishing to get back at Jolene for the meanness that she has caused. Yet you know that no matter how evil a person can be, they can always turn around and make things better if they only try. The author incorporates everything making it a genuine heartfelt story.

Merry Stahel has written an excellent story of love. She took a complex situation and created a masterpiece filled with so many different emotions of trepidation and love that pulls at the heart. She made strong characters and showed how trust could be regained. Everything was so picturesque and real and the way she portrayed Garret was so vivid, as if he jumped through the pages. She has created a story that I highly recommend to everyone. It extends like a huge blanket and sends warmth throughout your veins. It is well worth the read.
