When Kenna’s mom invites her home for the holidays, she goes into a panic. Last year her fiancé left her at the altar when he discovered he had gotten her sister pregnant. She hasn’t seen her sister or former fiancé since then and if she goes home for the holidays she will see them constantly. She convinces her best friend Nicolas to pretend to be her boyfriend for the trip home. Nicky likes the idea and wants to take her home to meet his parents, but as his actual fiancé, not pretend. Will Kenna go along with the plan?

What an adorable story. If you are looking for a book to get you in the holiday spirit, you need to read this book. As a mid-west farmer’s daughter, I found myself relating to this story instantly. Kenna’s family is amazing. Her strong, gruff, Irish father, her warm, caring mother and her two trouble-making sisters make fantastic support characters. Going home to family and the farm is normally a comforting experience, until the wedding that blew up in Kenna’s face happened. I deeply enjoyed this story. The settings were fantastic and I felt as it I was there myself. The characters are phenomenal and so lifelike. I found myself slightly confused at one point in the story, but things became clear pretty quickly and it didn’t take much away from the story itself. Throughout the book there are several sex scenes. Despite the frigid temperatures Kenna and Nicky found plenty of time to set the bedsheets on fire. Or on a blanket in the gazebo, or the pile of straw in the barn stall, or wherever else they could sneak away for a few moments of passion. If you are looking for a great holiday book full of incredible characters, beautiful settings, and lots of passion, this is the book for you.
