Stupendous as the emeralds truly are, that is not all Cormac brings to interest Enoch. Although he has a multitude of pretty boys at his beck and call, Enoch has long since become jaded and bored—until he sees Cormac.

The two negotiate to agreement on the emeralds, and nearly instantly enter into a hot and steamy affair. They make quite a pair, Cormac charming jewelry from the ladies, Enoch performing the same with the men. In secret, Enoch the Lion and Cormac the Magpie are deeply in lust, and tumbling ever further into love.

When Cormac is unexpectedly apprehended while stealing from a noble house, tossed into jail, and beaten, Enoch sets out to rescue him, disguised as a priest come to perform final rites before Cormac’s morning execution. Both have come to discover that the truly valuable gem is love.
