| Peter Talladay is a mercenary who vowed he would never set foot back in his native Ireland again until the day he died. But serious wounds sustained in the Middle East have taken that choice away from him. Plagued by unexplained pain and horrid nightmares, Peter fights hard to overpower the injuries that are holding him back. However, when his recovery comes to a screeching halt, Peter knows that it is time to call in reinforcements. Project Prometheus sends him Doctor Hope McKenzie, a very talented doctor of both physical and spiritual injuries who happens to hate mercenaries. Hope desperately attempts to put aside her personal feelings long enough to help Peter, for when she examines him she realizes that he is in more trouble than anyone knows.
I enjoyed reading this book but I was a little disappointed in the lack of action. The author did a great job introducing and developing her characters. Her background was laid out nicely and the foundation was solid. Halfway through the book I was still hoping for some action. I wanted danger and adventure and darn it even some demons! Now, though I was hoping for more danger and excitement, there was no lacking in the relationship suspense. I enjoyed following along with Hope and Peter’s story. I laughed with them, cried with them, and even got extremely irritated with them, which is evidence of how well they were created. A character that can make you feel such a wide variety of emotions is one that truly touches you. Esther Mitchell definitely knows how to create a character and make that character matter to you. I plan on keeping up with this series. I think we are going to see great things from this author.
