A Hunted Heart is a masterpiece by Joan Joyce Massa, also known to us as J. J. This may be the best she's ever written, despite the fact that it contains none of her signature erotic fare.

It is the story of two brothers and the woman they nearly destroyed. She's become stronger because of adversity, which inflames one man's hatred. A man who doesn't care if he destroys himself as long as he destroys her first.

After a year and a half of marital bliss, Von caught Tatiana in bed with his brother Rian. He ordered her to leave and not come back until her body needed burial in the family's crypt. He'd been too angry to notice the blood and bruises all over Tatiana. He refused to listen when Tatiana tried to tell him that Rian had brutally raped her. Instead of protecting his wife, Von had banished her. He didn't know that in the ten years since he'd tossed her out, she'd become the country's most renowned criminal profiler. He didn't know she was also an acclaimed author of suspense thrillers that were secretly autobiographical. He didn't know that Rian had stalked and threatened and tortured her for the past ten years. He didn't know that tonight Rian had attacked her on her doorstep in front of the police because it was the tenth anniversary of the rape. He didn't even know if she still lived.

He only knew that the police requested he come to the station at two in the morning concerning her. He only knew he couldn't live in a world without her. She was alive, but for how much longer? And what price would others have to pay for her life?

I can't say any more without spoiling the oh-so-wonderful twists and turns of the plot, but I can tell you this is a compelling story. A story about jealousies so powerful that both men had an almost equal hand in destroying the woman Tatiana had been. A story of love so powerful that ten years of hatred couldn't destroy it. A story of a twisted obsession so powerful it destroyed innocent bystanders. And of a woman whose heart is so powerful she pulled her life out of the ashes to become a beacon spreading her light on the darkness of the psychotic mind and into the void of loneliness so dark nothing else could reach it.

This story touched my heart and left it tender. You have to read this one.
