| Nika Jacks grew up in a household of men. One of her brothers and her
father are both firefighters. Nika is as well. This isn't her goal,
however. Her goal is to make smokejumper, just like her ex-husband,
Scott. She's over the top when she finally gets the letter from the
National Forestry Service to report for hotshot tryouts. Nika has been
working out forever, she knows this is the only way she's ever going to
achieve her goal. After a grueling test, complete with the men making
it clear they don't want her to make it, she finally passes and is now a
rookie hotshot.
In the mess one day, she sees a man that warrants a second look. This man is unbelievably hot. The only problem, J.T. is a convict. Oh great, now she's attracted to a convict. To make matters worse, her ex-husband, the cheater, is here as well. The next thing you know, someone is leaving her notes on her pillow in the barracks. One day while getting a supply of water for her squadron, there's a breakout fire. Nika ends up saving J.T.'s life. It turns out one of the cons started the fire to escape and J.T. isn't a con, he's really an F.B.I. agent sent to watch the con. Nika now has to deal with fires all over the place, a stalker, her ex-husband, who wants her back, and J.T. Who is the one setting all these fires? Will J.T. ever catch the convict? Who is Nika's stalker? Which man will Nika end up with, her ex-husband or J.T.? Michelle Perry has done an excellent with HOTSHOT. It's obvious she fully researched her subject matter before ever writing a single word of this excellent story. Even if you don't have any interest in this subject, the story will grab and hold your attention from the very beginning to the very wonderful ending. The sparks are continually flying between Nika and J.T., hot enough to rival the fires burning out of control. I really loved the way Nika earned her way on the team and how determined she is to get what she wants. This is one I highly recommend.
