| Hot Spell is an Anthology by three authors, Shilo Walker, Camille Anthony, and Jennifier Dunne. All the stories have a common thread, and that's witches.
The first one is Shilo Walkers Under Your Spell. It's about a pair of star crossed lovers that find true love only to lose it through both of their actions. Aislinn and Nicholas are the main characters in the first part of the story; you get to find out about their first love and what happened. The rest of the story is about what happens when they meet again. I thought this story was great; I loved the drama and passion that is played out through the story. Nicholas and Aislinn have a lot of power, but both of them have some very human flaws that make the story come alive. The next story in the anthology is Wylder Magic, by Camille Anthony. Wylder is a very powerful witch who has chosen his mate. The problem is, Morven is a student in his college class, and is very wary of him. When he declares his feelings, she becomes frightened of being overpowered by him and tries to say no. Wylder is an arrogant person, who knows that he has a lot of power and isn't afraid to use it. While Morven cares for him, she doesn't want to become just his door mat, so she fights him all the way. The sparks fly in this story, with both of the characters being strong individuals. I thought it ended a little abruptly, but it is truly worth reading. The last story is Harvest Magic, by Jennifer Dunne. This story is about a witch who is using her magic to grow crops for her sisters' farm. She's trying to help her niece, who has recently lost her father. Determined to give her a good life, she is trying to help the school raise money to stay open. For a fundraiser, her corn field will be used to create a maze that will bring in some much needed cash. In order to do so, she has to open her fields to the resident expert, Matt. Ally is determined to hide her unusual abilities from the town, including Matt. What happens when they start to fall for each other? Will Matt be able to accept her? I had a hard time paying attention to this story, for some reason it seemed to drag. Matt was a hard character to really get into, because he was so straight laced. I couldn't understand why Ally would be attracted to someone like that, and they never really clicked for me. It was an interesting story though, I liked the way she helped her fields grow and all the charms that where used.
