Abby Culhane had spent the best ten years of her life on the Yellow Rose Ranch. It was also the worst time of her life because of her step-father’s son, Tate Donovan, who was the heir apparent to the ranch and his grandparents’ home, Sycamore Grove. Tate had spurned Abby for the entire time they lived under the same roof and had written her off as a bad memory when her mother divorced his dad and he never heard from them until now.

When King Donovan died, Tate found out that his dad had left Sycamore Grove and one quarter of the Yellow Rose to Abby. Furious would not begin to describe Tate’s mood. The author has, once again, proven her exemplary writing abilities. Most of the characters in this book are old friends—this book is the third in a series known as the White Tail, Texas trilogy. The townsfolks are the Cutter brothers (previous books well worth reading) and their wives and the people from this small town. When Abby returned to White Tail, she was greeted as if she had just been gone a short while, not ten years.

Ms. Judith Rochelle has fully developed her main couple in the same exacting manner as she always does. Abby and Tate’s issues (for example, their lack of trust in each other and Tate’s volatile temper) are so believable and on track that the story actually unfolds in a manner that kept me spellbound. I love the way Abby used her imagination to turn her inheritance into a career change. Of course, we know there had to be a conflict, so we were introduced to Sam. Who he was and what eventually happened was not only funny, but disastrous.

As you can tell, I loved this book, thought the trilogy was fantastic, and search for books by this author. She writes in such a way that it will attract anyone, especially those who love cowboys. I highly recommend that you run, not walk, to pick up the story.
