Shauntie Kane has been burned by love before and has decided that only a specific type of man will do. Unfortunately, Nash Wentworth is not that type of man. Nash knew Shauntie when she dated one of his friends, but she never noticed him. When that friend threw her away, Nash had been waiting for a chance to be with her and never let her go. However, Shauntie has put up a wall to keep men out and Nash has his work cut out for him if he wants to break it down. Can Shauntie overcome a past hurt and learn not to prejudge every working man? Or will Nash’s secret destroy any chance they had of finding love?

Shuantie has been hurt by a man in the past and because of that she lumps all blue collar men in one group as unequal. Nash saw what happened and thinks he can break down her walls and help her see that not all men are like her ex. But he has his work cut out for him because Shauntie refuses to see that what her ex did to her is now controlling the way she lives her life. It takes a bit but Shauntie is starting to see what she could have with Nash until her ex makes another appearance in her life and Nash has to come clean about a secret. Will Shauntie be able to overcome the truth or will she close herself up again?

At first Shauntie comes off as a snob who thinks she is better than a man who works hard for what he wants. She decided that only a man with a six figure income will do for her and that anyone below that is beneath her. When Nash comes in the picture you start to see the hurt she is hiding even from herself and it is up to Nash to tear down the walls if he wants to be a part of her life. The characters were complex and the story moved right along, even setting up a background for the next book while telling Shauntie and Nash’s story. I cannot wait until the next book in this series comes out to see what happens with Sapphire!
