| Miss Cecilia Burnside has loved her distant relative and childhood friend for years. The problem is he runs whenever a female gets too close. When scandal threatens him and they are confined under the same roof, she hopes to convince said gentleman to return her feelings.
Bertram, Viscount Darling, is suspected of treason and is thus put under house arrest while being investigated. Rushing to his side to show support and to find the actual traitor are his friends including the lovely Ceci, but Bert has commitment issues. Can he find the turncoat and true love? This wonderful book can be read as a stand-alone although it is the second novel in the series. This is an enjoyable book with humorous, three-dimensional characters, solid plot twists, and natural dialogue. I am a sucker for quirky characters and this book is full of them. This was a good blend of adventure and romance, however I would have liked to see the ratio of romance to mystery favor the relationship between Bertram and Cecilia a little more but the intrigue was solid. I can't wait to read Geoffrey's story. I will definitely recommend this book as well as the first, Runaway Scandal.
