Derek O'Dell, detective friend of Jesse Madding and Gideon Keel, has a missing nephew. Jonah Dixon has been doing research into the being who caused Gideon's to lose his memory. When the two go to London to rescue him with the help of David Brighton they find that Jonah has indeed gotten information they can use. He's also gotten himself kidnapped by a cult who worships a dimension traveling being. His rescue and study of the book he stole from the cult leads Jesse to believe they may have found a way to rescue Emma, their friend and lover.

The writing duo known as Jamie Craig has given us another powerful installment in this erotic love story. The search for answers to what has happened to Emma is interspersed with the kind of BDSM play we've come to expect and even hope for between this couple. Adding another couple, David and Jonah, as dominant and submissive to their household just makes it more tantalizing.

The authors continue to broaden our understanding of Gideon's persona by revealing details about his relationship with Black John. Michelle, guardian and bookstore owner, is still suffering from injuries she sustained in a prior book so Gideon is even willing to let her live with them. She's much less trouble this time than she often is in this series.

Reading this ongoing saga is like catching up with old friends who live an exotic life. Each part of the tale unfolds like adventures we can just sit back and enjoy vicariously. We wouldn't want to be in their shoes but they're such great characters we can't wait to see what happens next. The authors have kept each book full of fresh dialogue, suspense, and fun. This one, like the eight that came before, is an action-filled read.
