Keiko has been able to see ghosts since she was a child and feels that she is cursed. Ever since she was first attacked as a child, they have been after her, scarring her back and trying to bleed her spirit away. She feels defenseless, and when she sees one while on tour in a mansion, she's terrified. Will it attack her? When the ghost realizes that she can see him, he chases her down. Terrified that he is like all the others, she tries to get away. But Ryudo isn't like any ghost that she's ever met, he's a house spirit. He's got a different way of getting energy from her that certainly doesn't hurt.

Ryudo can't believe his luck when he sees Keiko on a tour of his house. She's one of the rare people that are a bridge between the living and the dead, and she can not only see him, she can touch him as well. She also has the ability to feed him energy, which is why the ghosts had scarred her so badly before by attacking her and making her bleed. What Keiko doesn't know is that sex is also a way for a ghost to get energy, and Ryudo knows how to do it very well...

Toku can't believe that his house spirit has captured a girl. He helps her escape, but Ryudo has been making him pay for it ever since. Ryudo has decided that Toku needs to know what he's been missing, and has been educating him on sex… every kind imaginable. When they meet up with Keiko again his attraction is still there, but he doesn't want to draw her into Ryudo's web again. Ryudo has other ideas...

This story is set in Japan and while Morgan Hawke does describe some of the traditions and what is going on, it doesn't feel like a history lesson. This is really about Keiko, and her problems and love life. All the characters come to life in this book, I enjoyed each one. Keiko is feisty and independent, Ryudo is strong and arrogant, and Toku is caring and naive. When I first realized just how long this book was, I thought that I would never get through it. How wrong I was! Let's just say that it was a VERY long night, and I had to go to work! From the first page Hungry Spirits grabs your attention and doesn't let you go until the end. The relationship between Keiko, Toku and Ryudo grows throughout the book, and it's a gripping story that will leave you wishing it was just a bit longer. The sex in the story is erotic and steamy, with no holds barred, with a m/m scene, along with the three of them becoming a unit. Japanese style stories are not normally my thing, but I picked this book up because Morgan Hawke is on my auto-buy list. I was once again impressed at just how great a writer she is, and the way she can draw you into a story. The characters are well rounded and likable, and the sex in the story is hot and steamy. I just can't say enough about how fantastic this book is. Pick up Hungry Spirits, you won't regret it!
