| Claire has agreed with much coercion to be the one from her Coven to run in the local shifters' mating run. Nigel isn't allowed to run for a mate this year. What are they to do when duty is at war with the feelings they have for one another? Rather than challenge the rules, Nigel leaves the area to go to another pack. Claire keeps her promise and is mated to Nigel's brother Taylor. None of the three are happy. It takes a tragedy to bring them back together again.
The writing duo known as Violet Summers pens an erotic tale of two people so bound to the rules of their respective groups that they give up on true love. Four people end up being devastated by rules that they choose to follow out of fear of rocking the boat. They all call it duty or honor for tradition but society, whether shifters or not, would probably be extinct if everyone stuck with tradition. Nigel's father shows some admirable leadership to get the others to work things out. The authors manage to make this a thought provoking tale amidst some great eroticism.
