Loreste is a mermaid whose curiosity gets the better of her. Her one previous encounter with a human can not prepare her for Hunter. He is unique among men and Loreste is drawn to him. When she is unexpectedly caught in Hunter’s snare, she sees a side of this human she never thought possible.

The idea for this book was a fabulous one. I guess I just didn’t understand the direction the author was going. There is a scene at the beginning that I had trouble connecting with the rest of the book and actually felt a bit uncomfortable with. Loreste entrances a young man and, for lack of a better term, violates him. Though the “youth” seems to like it, the fact remains that he is doing everything against his will. That in itself wouldn’t have been so bad if it was connected to Hunter, but unless I really missed something, Hunter was not the young man Loreste plays with at the beginning. And as far as I could gather, and I was a little confused, Hunter and Loreste never actually had sex. The love scenes that were present were a bit confusing given Loreste’s anatomy. I think the word I’m looking for is complicated. On the positive side, this book had the basis for some really unique ideas for merfolk. I don’t think I’ve ever read anything that compares in description of mermaids. Most authors get around the awkwardness of men mating with mermaids by making the mermaids human in some way when they leave the ocean. This book explores the physical differences and embraces them.
