Adric Lunatier, a gentle, artistic wolf shifter has been killed. When his sister Kiera asks pack leader and their Uncle Fentis to declare a Hunt for Vengeance he refuses. Instead he places a Hunt Mark on her if she kills the one who killed her brother. Amris Grey, Pack Master of the Grey pack is going to ask for Kiera as his mate. Instead he finds her as she catches the human who killed her brother. Before the man dies he tells them that he was guaranteed immunity from the hunt for killing Adric and that the one who hired him is Amris Grey! The two join forces to preserve his honor and find the one who hired the assassin.

These two authors have written a good book about werewolf shifters, clan politics and some interesting rituals. There’s also a fair amount of suspense as attempts are made to kill, poison or otherwise get rid of Kiera. She’s a pretty tough cookie and doesn’t go down easily no matter what they pull. If she thinks it warranted confronting Amris the pack leader and her lover doesn’t seem to phase her. Challenges from others in Amris’ pack are handled with honor as she shows she’s the right one to be his mate and Mistress of the pack.

There’s a lot of politicking behind the scenes. We’re almost led to the villains behind the mess but not quite. Lots of hints are given but no finale to give me satisfaction. The romance is great but I found myself skimming the sex scenes to get back to the story. This is a good book but I found the lack of completion to this story a frustration and the sex too drawn out, detracting from rather than an enhancement to the tale.
