While jogging in the park, Dr. Ellie Sullivan witnesses the shooting of an FBI agent and finds herself thrown into the middle of an FBI investigation. Agent Max Daniels questions Ellie about the case and what she witnessed. They are attracted to each other from the start. When Ellie heads home to attend her sister's wedding, she discovers that someone from her past maybe after her. Max shows up and tells her the only other witness has disappeared and she may be in danger. As Max tries to keep her safe from both the dangers in her past and her present, the attraction becomes hotter than ever. Can they have a life together with so many things coming against them?

Ms. Garwood has always been one of my favorite authors and with this book she stays at the top of the list. While many of her books seem to follow a pattern, they are always entertaining. She adds just the right amount of romance, friction and humor into the tale, and you can't help to be drawn into the story. I especially liked the story of Max and Ellie. Ellie keeps Max on his toes. While he is busy being the alpha male, she shows him that she can take care of herself. She does it without being obnoxious or doing something so dumb, that makes you wonder if she deserves to live. The secondary characters are all well written and fit in well with the story. I especially liked Ellie's dad and his need for a good deal. The heat generated by Ellie and Max is also well done and very sultry and extremely sexy. I definitely wouldn't mind a "Max" of my own, but alas he is already taken. This is going to be one of those great summer reads that you can take with you anywhere. Once again Ms. Garwood shows why she is one of the best.
