Psychic Amara dreams of a man who touches her emotionally and physically in a way that no other can. But even in her dreams, he is elusive and she never wakes with anything more than the memory of his caresses. Is she in love with a mere figment of her raunchy imagination?

Andrew feels the same yearning as he finds in Amara, the soul of his long-lost lover reincarnated. He made serious mistakes with her in their past life together and knows that if they are to be reunited, he needs to be patient and very careful. But an unknown enemy is after Amara and he fears that he may lose her all over again.

I had high hopes for this novel as the theme of reincarnated love has always intrigued me. Unfortunately, I did not much enjoy this novel. The plot included vampires, psychics, a murder mystery, a true love to reclaim among others, and should have been deliciously dark read. It ended up being rather convoluted due to the story being told nearly throughout with alternating real-time and flashbacks viewpoints. Personally, I found that very distracting and that may have caused me to be impatient with the story. I also found the dialogue to be overly long and clunky. Amara was not a very sympathetic character and I could not like some of her reactions to the various situations that cropped up in the book. I empathised more with Andrew, but did not find him a particularly appealing hero. He was just okay... However, the world created by Hart is an intriguing one and the atmosphere of the story is reminiscent of the Queen of the Macabre, Anne Rice. I felt the technical elements of this book could be improved upon, but this author has a wonderful imagination and may end up being one to watch out for.
