| Moses Brown.Sidney P. (for Persistent) Coffey.Hes a police detective and she is a reporter. Their relationship is based on mutual friendship and the desire for each others bodies, without the encumbrance of deeper ties . Hes working the latest case involving unusual killings and all evidence seems to indicate that vampires are out on the loose, and she wants the low-down. Sid had recently discovered, and that had happened at the time shed met Moses, that vampires are among the population. During her research she had discovered that many young people lately reported dead, had then been present at a club shed visited; luckily that night Moses had rescued her from being drawn in to the sexual lure vampires exercise, and had then filled her in on what was going on. That was the beginning also of their sexual friendship. Now she wants to interview the head vampire, Master Navarro, about the rash of killings. Not taking a No for an answer, Sid breaks on to the grounds at Navarros house and unexpectedly gets help from an unusual source, namely Navarros manservant, Inigo. He has decided that his Master needs some change in his life, and takes Sid to him, instead of shooing her off the grounds. Shocked at Navarros beauty, she is overwhelmed by her first sight of the Master. Navarro is amused by the fresh mouthed and determined girl and decides to call her bluff, which she surprises him in meeting. What shocks him even more are her surprising deductions
The characters are all well thought out and very likable, the dialogue is written with humour, the plot is interesting and suspenseful, and this story just makes a great read. It was good to have Inigo overstep his boundaries in his desire to give his Master something more in life. Well recommended for anyone wanting a great vamp story.
