| With quick wit a young noblewoman invents the identity of maid Marian for herself and Robin for her young half brother as they try to find a treasure that will secure their lives. Steinarr, an immortal Viking cursed to be a lion when the sun goes down, has his own secrets to guard. The unlikely trio travels in search of clues that will help them find a treasure hidden by Marian’s father. During the day they fight the lust between them, at night Steinarr fights the beast he has become through the curse of the evil Cwen.
Lisa Hendrix builds a wonderful story in this Immortal Brotherhood series. It could be the early tales of Robin Hood or a love story that is pure fun mixed with the suspense of the hunt. Steinarr proves to be as strong as a lion whether on two legs or four as his honor protects Marian no matter what his lust driven emotions want. Marian is excellent as a quick thinking young woman who will stop at nothing. She proves herself a great backup to Steinarr’s strength in battle. Ms. Hendrix never fails to amuse and amaze me with her books. They just keep getting better. This story is filled with special characters, whether good or evil, built in such a way to make us want to take this book with us wherever we go and read it every moment we can. Few love stories have so many twists and turns that keep us guessing and smiling, hoping the two main characters will find a way to make things work between them. This is a book that can keep us remembering it long after the last page has been turned.
