Meg accidentally has contact with an ancient artifact sacred to the Goddess Isis, which throws her into the middle of the on going battle between to rival Gods. She finds herself the target of a crazed magician with no one to turn to, and no one to trust, except her Mortal Protector, Gideon, who has saved her.

Gideon fights to keep Meg and himself alive as he attempts save the world. But when Meg becomes more to him than just an assignment will he be able to do what has to be done in the end? Can an immortal soldier and a mortal woman find love, in the middle of so much darkness and evil or are they destined to lose everything, including their lives?

Ursula Bauer has written an exceptional tale of ancient Gods, Immortals, demons and zombies. Gideon and Meg are strong, likeable characters. I loved traveling along with them as they fought for life, love and to save the world. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a spicy suspenseful story of twists and turns that will keep them on their toes to the very end.
