| Ivar, son of Thorli, called Graycloak, now goes by Ivo de Vassy. The Viking flies around as an eagle by day, and turns into a man at night, thanks to a sorceress who cursed him with the capacity to shape shift. Lady Alaida is not noted for having patience especially when suitors call. She has enough on her agenda with overseeing her grandfather’s lands, and servants, after he is captured by the Norman king. Two years ago the evil sorceress cursed him to live his solitary life and now the king deems him to marry. When he meets Alaida, she has all the qualification for a good wife. She does not wish marriage; neither does he, but it is inevitable. Their marriage has a bumpy start after Ivo hears about a troubling vision. Ivo feels he can’t love Alaida like a husband. Can she break the force that keeps him trapped after she learns his curse, or will their love be enough to break the spell?
If you want an action-packed tale that grips and keeps one reading until the last page, then Immortal Warrior is the story. Alaida and Ivo are fascinating characters with a special romance. I wanted to jump into the book and break the curse afflicting Ivo. My heart went out to him. With just the right blending of romance, great pacing, and a bit of magic stirred into the pot, Lisa Hendrix carries the reader into an incredible tale that is so lifelike. She has definitely done a thorough research into the time period surrounding England . I love how she makes Alaida feisty, and vibrant, while trying to survive in a Viking world with controlling men. She creates a series that has this reader sitting on pins and needles for the next installment.
