This story's heroine is Caroline, but when we meet her she is Aphrodite, a goddess who decided to attend a masque the night before her wedding with hopes no one would find out. She had been kissing a man in a blue domino and ended up running outside, she became lost in the maze of the estate and Taran came upon her there. That would be Taran Robertson, Viscount of Blackhall, her betrothed. I will mention here that she had been betrothed to his older brother John until he met his demise in an unfortunate horseback riding accident. John thought she was frigid and would never warm up with a man and she just wanted to see what the fuss was all about really, and boy did she ever!

Taran is nothing like his brother and isn't even sure why he was at the masque in the first place. When he came upon Aphrodite, he didn't know who she was, and the two of them started everything with kissing. From there they went to other things and she found out what it was all about and he felt he didn't want anyone other than our goddess. Taran married Caroline the next morning with no knowledge of who she was and shortly after the rings were exchanged, et cetera, Caroline realizes he was the incredible man from the night before. She doesn't confess to him, but he does eventually figure it out and doesn't tell her he knows.

This is such a delightful story! The two have incredible chemistry and there is much love making. There is also some conniving, some travel, a kidnapping, a rescue and finally complete declarations of truth and love! This is not your typical, run of the mill, historical romance. These authors gave us a rollicking tale I could not put down!
