Tony Landry has clawed his way to the top by sheer determination. Not only was he born into poverty but he was shuffled into foster homes at a young age after losing both his parents in different ways. Now he's a top criminal defense attorney that no one wants to take on and come home to stay. Even though he doesn't always agree with the people he represents, he gets paid very well to give the best defense possible. His first case in Tampa he ends up defending a notorious drug lord, Tony knows his client won't get convicted but also the press will definitely show him in a bad light. After the case starts Tony can't stop thinking about the prosecuting attorney and finally gets his chance to prove he's not all that bad.

Christine Granger is on a mission, to rid the community of drug lords that destroyed her family. Finally after eight years she's got her chance when she learns she'll be the prosecuting attorney for the well known drug lord. Even though the case has holes, Christine is determined to find something to get him off the streets, but soon finds out that all the rumors about Tony Landry are true. He's the best defense lawyer she's ever seen and she loses the case miserably. After Tony almost hits her with his car she loses much more that her heart to him. But is Christine doesn't stop thinking everything is always black or white she'll lose the man of her dreams.

Even though the story dragged in some spots, I was very pleased with the plot and the characters in the book. Ms. Jacobs did an excellent job displaying real people in real life situations.
