Four popular urban fantasy authors have penned short stories featuring their favorite characters and supernatural tattoos. In "Skin Deep" by Karen Chance, war mage Lia ends up with a magical dragon charm that moves all over her body at will and luckily also offers protection in a pinch. Unfortunately the "tattoo" has a mind of its own. Demon hunter, Maxine Kiss, finds out that she can time travel via the mysteries demon "children" that reside on her body like tattoos during the day and Maxine finds herself investigating a crime with its roots all the way back to World War II in "Armor of Roses" by Marjorie M. Liu. The third story, "Etched in Silver" by Yasmine Galenorn, is an early adventure featuring Camille D'Artigo and her sisters before they were transferred earthside. This story tells how Camille and Trillian met and became bound! And finally, the forth story, features Eileen Wilks's FBI Agent Lily Yu in "Human Nature." Magical tattoos help an evil murderer kill shape shifters by keeping them from being able to shift to heal and keeping them bound while they are murdered.

If you have been reading any of these four popular author's series, you don't want to miss the stories found in this anthology. For me, just getting the background story of the D'Artigo sisters before they came to earth would be worth the cost of this book but I also enjoyed the other three stories. Ms. Galenorn answers a lot of questions I'd thought of about the D'Artigo sisters and how they ended up on earth working for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. If you haven't started reading this series, this short story is a great introduction to the series. The other three stories happen in between books of their respective series but are all well done. I like anthologies but this is one of the best ones I've read lately if these authors are ones you read. If you have never read any of these authors, each story is a good representation of their work. I recommend this anthologies to anyone who already loves these four authors or loves the new trend towards the darker Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance genres.
