| This incredible story has a myriad of characters, each one important to the plot. There are relationships besides that of the main characters, inn owner Lorenna Beauchamp and movie star Jamie Crawford, which are significant in the plot. Jamie’s best friend, Butch and his dog Sarge, were registered to stay at The Wild Rose Bed and Breakfast, until Lee, his girlfriend, broke up with him. However, Lorenna thought ‘Lee’ was a man; Butch’s flamboyance certainly led her thoughts in that direction. And Lorenna’s mother, Barbara, was scheduled to marry her 5th husband. Her late father, Phil, was an actor who ignored her the entire time she was growing up, so Lorenna had no faith in actors.
Jamie was J. Hamilton, Sergeant Cameron to his fans; his name actually was James Hamilton Crawford. When Lorenna asked what he did for a living, without thinking he told her that he was a veterinarian (which was his last job on film). After he found out how she felt about movie stars, he could not tell her what he really did. Because her father had such a negative impact on her, there were NO televisions or movies in the inn; she had no idea who Jamie was. Despite all his friends and employees showing up at the B&B, Jamie and Lorenna managed to fall in love and began to envision a future together…that was before she found out how much he would have to give up to stay with her! The character development of the entire cast was well done and the plot was believable. There is enough information to make the characters stand out without being boring or overloading! The love scenes are intense and frequent but are not too explicit; they develop along with the love the couple found with each other. Throughout the story they face conflict, but I do not believe anyone will expect the finale! I can guarantee you will enjoy this book and I encourage you to take the time to read it. It is an extraordinary work. Kudos to Ms. McDonald!
