After the death of their infant daughter, Curtis began to change. He seemed to work longer hours, and began drinking. Rose tried hard to make the marriage last but the abuse and violence got to be too much for her. One night after Curtis came home drunk again and began to get violent with Rose she ran out of the house trying to get as far away from Curtis as she could.

She found herself waking up in a pasture not knowing where she was or how she got there. She was found by a farmer Darren Dillard who offered to take her home and help her. Rose was touched by the kindness of Darren and his wife and gladly took the ride into town to her mother's home from Darren. Her mind made up Rose was determined not to go back to Curtis and was going to seek a divorce.

It soon became evident to Rose she was fond of Darren more than in a friendship feeling. She fought hard since he was a married man and she didn't want to cause any problems yet Darrren also had feelings for her. Soon they began to meet and a romance bloomed. They began to fall in love and wanted to be with each other. But fate has a strange way of dealing with matters of the heart and when an accident happens...
