| Reno detective Cristian Flesh lives his life by a strict set of rules, keeping to one-time flings and anonymous sexual encounters, rather than having relationships. So far his rules have worked for him, until a fling winds up murdered, leaving Cristian the prime suspect.
Colby Maddox is the lawyer that takes his case. Cristian finds himself attracted to the handsome lawyer and wanting to break all his rules about relationships to be with him. The attraction is instantaneous, but before than can even think of having a future together they need to find the real murderer or die trying. This is one of those stories that draw you in slowly, but once you're in you find it hard to put the book down. I seriously thought that I would dislike this story, because of the way it sort of drags in the beginning, but with all good books there was a reason for the book starting this way, it was laying the ground work for Cristian's story. I truly believe that while this is listed as a mystery it really is Cristian's story, you get to watch him grow and change, while going through the murder investigation. The sub-characters are all interesting and add a surprising amount of warmth and compassion to Cristian, where otherwise he would have been a little less likeable. The characters also bring humor to the story and keep it from taking itself too seriously. There is plenty of hot, erotic sex in the book, at times quite explicit, this fit in well with showing how Cristian lived his life, but at times was uncomfortable to read. If you have problems with this very descriptive sex, this is definitely not the book for you. It’s a great story, but unfortunately it limits itself with all the sex. I will definitely be looking for more stories from this author.
