| Once again, the cops from the New Gregory, Iowa Police Department are meeting at The Witches Brew, their local hangout. The cops are all good friends, two of them are more than friends. Conor Nolan is in love with his fellow detective, Rhianna Marek. Even though they don’t have a sexual relationship, they are in love and all their friends know it. This particular evening, Conor has a headache and decides to leave early. On his way out of the bar, he runs into a beautiful woman and she calls him her “Celtic warrior”. Of course, this woman slipped something into Conor’s drink. The next morning, Conor just about rapes Rhianna in the break room at the station. He also ends up suspended for being late again. When the beautiful woman from the bar shows up on his porch, Conor can’t resist. When he ends up being abducted, everyone in the Police Department puts it down to an alcoholic binge. Everyone but Rhianna, that is.
Rhianna never gives up hope on getting Conor back. She even moves into his house. One evening, her partner is there with her and he falls asleep on the couch. When they hear a loud noise, they find Conor on the porch, full of heroine. When he tells his tale of being abducted and the torture he endured, Rhianna begins to investigate along with an FBI agent. The more they investigate, the more they see a pattern developing. Will they be able to keep Conor safe? What of the other four men, also going through a similar experience to Conor’s? How are these men all related? IN THE TEETH OF THE WIND once again shows off Charlotte Boyett-Compo’s talents as we are plunged into the world of revenge and drugs. It never ceases to amaze me just how cruel man can be to one another and Charlotte has shown us just how far one man will go to have his revenge. I became caught up in this story from the very first page and I really didn’t want to stop reading it. The characters are all realistic and true to life, from the beautiful heroine never giving up on her love, to the flawed hero, noble to the end. If you enjoy a thrilling story that will hold you enthralled from the first page to the very last, you don’t want to miss THE WINDTORN TRILOGY.
