| Brodie Crawford hasn’t been home in eight years. On the last visit, he learned
that Elena Alverez, with whom he had shared a night of passion he could not forget,
had married his old buddy, Mannie Ramirez.
Elena is now a bounty hunter. Mannie, now into drug trafficking, has kidnapped her daughter and taken the child across the border to Mexico. Although they are divorced, Mannie still has hopes of reuniting as a family. Elena needs Brodie’s help, but she is a strong woman, determined to go alone if necessary. Brodie is in the military, specializing in dangerous, covert missions. His duty is to fight terrorism. Brodie’s father Chet has never been a caring parent. He encourages Brodie to help Elena, though his son cannot fathom the reason. Brodie has only two weeks of leave left to rescue the little girl. The action is fast and furious. And the passion between Brodie and Elena is electric. Old secrets and new ones fuel the exciting plot. Issues of trust are big here. There are agents, double agents, and spies and traitors of all sorts. It seems that all of the characters except Elena and her daughter have killed someone. And most are seeking retribution of some sort. Lise Fuller is adept at character development. Brodie, Elena and Mannie are all fully depicted. Their actions are interesting and plausible in light of their backgrounds. And she provides believable peripheral characters, leaving the reader wanting more. Agent Chris Ferguson and the lovely Victoria could easily carry their own novels. The author raises some interesting questions about truth and purpose while gripping the reader with intense action. The lovemaking is passionate, but the melding and understanding that grows between Brodie and Elena shows far more than heat. The conclusion is highly satisfying. The novel should appeal to any reader who likes romance with a taste of international intrigue.
