| Melissa Bloom, Lissa, is attractive in her own way but doesn't realize it when she is next to her sister, Shirley. That was before Marcus entered town and captured Lissa's heart.
Marcus McCaide needed a job when he rode into Gideon's Gulch. He finds employment with Lissa's father in their store and in no time begins having feelings for Lissa. Shirley Bloom, the younger sister believes every man has eyes for her until Marcus breezes into town, showing her differently. Dr. Timothy Newcomb is near Lissa's father's age and would marry Lissa if she only accepted. Lissa cannot believe her luck when Marcus arrives in town. Most men immediately turn their eyes toward her sister, Shirley. But after Marcus accepts a job with her father things begin to take a different turn in her favor and Marcus shows her interest. She understands he carries a gun and when she asks why, he informs he has killed but he isn't a gunfighter. Lissa impresses Marcus with her smile and the way she stands up to him. But when he tells her that he is not the marrying kind, she knows she will never have a life with him. Marcus has painful memories that haunt him when he was a sheriff and until he can overcome those nightmares, he cannot rest comfortably with any woman. When he learns that Dr. Newcomb intends to marry Lissa, he pulls all stops to urge her not to marry a man that she doesn't love. In Your Arms is a page-turner. From the moment I started reading about Melissa, I was captivated. I immediately fell in love with the character of Melissa. I could feel the ache in her heart every time she expressed the concerns in her life about falling in love, while having to deal with her sister. I cheered when Marcus urged her to take a stand with Shirley. Ms. Goings has styled a most tenderhearted romance that truly inspires and pricks the heart. She instills believability with her characters and allows the reader to visualize the setting. In Your Arms has true grit and merit that completely satisfies. It has all the elements that make it an exceptional winner.
