| Abby Flannigan has spent her life trying to control the psychic abilities she was born with. Witnessing horrifying visions of murder at an early age, she has done her best to call into focus the murderer's face and put a monster behind bars. Though she can visualize the murder scenes and even tap into the murderer's thoughts, the face remains ever elusive in a case where the truth is too painful to bear. When she meets Jake Kelly and falls in love, she knows that before they can move on with their life together that the evil that has haunted her must be stopped. With the help of her great-great grandmother's journal, the love she shares with Jake, and the gradual evolution of her gifts, Abby must face her fears and stop a murderer... no matter how painful the truth might be.
I found it very difficult to keep interest in this book. To me, it was more of a contemporary romance rather than a suspense thriller. I am a big fan of suspense and I think the majority of my disappointment came from expecting one thing and getting another. It needed a little more action. For a suspense thriller, it seemed to move at a snail's pace with the setting taking place over almost a year. To me, the plot was transparent, including the killer's identity, so really the only suspense was in how it would all play out. Under a different classification, with different initial expectations, I think I would have more enjoyed this book. I liked the authors' sassy dialogue among the characters, though from time to time it was a little exaggerated. I also really enjoyed the integration of the paranormal aspect into the heart of the story. Basically, if you're looking for a good keep-you-on-your-toes thriller, this isn't the book for you. But if you're looking for a sweet love story with a little action and a touch of paranormal thrown in, I think you'll be very happy with this book.
