| Alyson has recently broken up with her fiancé, only to have him wreck and end up in a coma the next day. The worst part is, he wrecked a speed racing boat that is owned and sponsored by her family. Traveling to Ireland with her family to meet the other teams in the upcoming race, she runs into Brendon. Not knowing he is another driver, the two become friends and possibly more. However, Brendon is still reeling from the loss of his wife from a few years ago and is not interested in marrying again. But he’s fascinated and falling hard for Alyson, knowing she wants nothing to do with the boat racing sport again. Is there a possibility of their friendship becoming more?
Irish Mist is a poignantly written tale that encompasses so many emotions and life events. In this book, she has dealt with life altering events that no one wants to ever happen to them, with tact and grace. Ms. Janssen does a wonderful job of bringing out the characters emotions and personalities. Each character is so authentic and lifelike. You add in an overbearing older brother, quirky sister and a bunch of interesting support characters and it makes for a lot of interesting situations. Ms. Janssen also did an amazing job of pulling the reader into the story. I felt as if I was traveling Ireland and California with Alyson and Brendon. While the love scenes were few and far between, they were very sensual. Even though there were issues and confusion throughout their relationship, Brendon and Alyson’s love for each other clearly showed through during these times. Despite the problems they faced together and separately, their dedication to each other made for a very touching story. Irish Mist will have you engrossed throughout. I found it very hard to put this book down until the very end. If you enjoy contemporary romance stories full of life, love and loss, you will not be disappointed with Irish Mist.
