| Claire isn't considered human because she was made from cloned parts. She was created to be an assassin, her reflexes and though process finely honed to create the perfect killer. Deep down, she's a woman who wants the things all women want -- friends, a place she belongs, and someone to love. When the airship she's on crashes in enemy territory, she seizes the opportunity to start over. Theo is a member of the nobility, the ruling class. He introduces Claire to the joys of submission. Though he has no idea of her true function, he falls in love with her and pushes for legislation to officially recognize people like Claire as human. Just when he thinks everything is perfect between them, her handlers return with an assignment. Can he trust her, or will this forever destroy their love?
Iron Dominance is steampunk at its finest. It's true to the genre in that it utilizes many steam-powered inventions and all women are subservient to men. That part could bother, but Silverwood is skilled in diminishing the inequality issue. Once again, she manages to create characters that leap off the page and capture the reader's attention. They are complex enough so that I went back and forth about whether or not I like Theo. And the sex – just thinking about how hot those erotic scenes were makes me want to go back and read it again. Her world-building is equally captivating, and her storytelling skills are phenomenal. I'd love to see Iron Dominance as a movie just to see the amazing sets they'd have to build. Even if steampunk isn't your thing, you'll enjoy Silverwood's representation of the genre. Overall, Iron Dominance is another Silverwood hit. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
