| Madison “Maddie” Cahill adored her husband Gavin, so when she caught him kissing another woman, her heart broke. After her father flagrantly cheated on her mother, Maddie always vowed to never make the same mistake. Looks like history is about to repeat itself though.
Gavin can’t believe Maddie won’t trust him when he tells her it was all a mistake and that he most definitely wasn’t cheating. His heart breaks over her lack of trust in him, so when she files for divorce, he agrees. There can be no marriage if she won’t trust him. However, when a snowstorm hits their cabin and Maddie and Gavin are stranded together, they find that the attraction between them still smolders and burns. Will they find a way to work through their troubles? Irresistible features two characters who are both heartbroken. It’s a sad beginning for the story, but luckily, there are many positive things to look forward to, including Ms. Havlir’s magnetic writing style, Maddie and Gavin’s obvious love for each other, and the unique ways in which they are dealing with the disillusion of their marriage. This perhaps doesn’t sound like the most hopeful romance you’ll read, but there is a lot of hope because Gavin won’t give up. Even when he is at his most down and out regarding Maddie, his heart refuses to let her go. Maddie is perhaps slow to catch up, but then, she’s had a lifetime of male disappointment to contend with. While I thought her sudden turnabout regarding trust was a bit too handily concluded, I still enjoyed watching them get to a stronger point in their relationship. It wasn’t easy, but seclusion, snow, and the chance to finally lay their hearts bare before each other really helped. Beverly Havlir pens a winner with this different take on the rocky road to love. Sexy, scintillating and truly heartfelt, Irresistible will have you gripped from the tumultuous beginning.
