| Sadler is a man on the run, wanted for his assassination attempt on King Adlard. When he rescues Princess Isolde from a wild boar, he finds himself faced with a new temptation -- to make the Princess his own. Can he give up his hatred of the King for the love of a Princess?
Princess Isolde runs from danger and lands at the feet of a hero, a very naked hero. Even when she finds out that her hero is an outlaw, she can't fight her growing attraction to him or her awareness of him as a man. When given a chance to be with the man of her dreams, is this pampered Princess strong enough to fight for what she wants? This was my first Steampunk book and it took some getting used to. The mix of manners and language that you would expect from a historical novel with machines that you don't expect to find in that era gave me a bit of a pause. That said, the author managed to meld them very well creating a world that was extraordinary and intriguing. Isolde and Sadler's characters were predictable. However, they still held my attention and I wanted to see them find a happy ending. Secondary characters were also typical and had few surprises to offer. I wish they had been as out of the ordinary as the world around them. Overall, the individuals in the story were enjoyable but not riveting. The action scenes were unique and offered a engaging taste of the world that the characters inhabited. Love scenes were spicy, sensual, and certainly added to the books overall appeal. If you a looking for something a bit different from your average Historical novel, give this tale a try. You may find yourself addicted to a whole new genre of romance.
