| Ben Hawkins left his hometown of Tyler, Texas ten years ago. He left an abusive step-father and an absentee mother. His greatest concern was that he also left the love of his life, Marah Spencer. In the ten years he had neither returned for a visit nor called anyone to find out about Marah. She had said she loved him. He didn’t. Although he filled her space with women, no one took her place in his heart.
Marah worked for her father’s newspaper, The Herald Times. She also was inquiring about a position to intern her psychology degree and pay the bills. Marah was a loner who had never gotten over Ben’s desertion. Her father insisted that, when she returned to Tyler to visit her mother, she interview the band, Darkfever. Ms. Davis’ characters are well written. The band members were aware of Ben’s past and, while they were supportive, they also knew he would have problems going back home. The scenario is interesting and the plot is fresh. The sex is highly sensual and explicit. It definitely heats up the storyline. What happened when the band manager had not secured rooms for them was a surprise. The ending was not what I expected. I highly recommend this fast-paced book for anyone who enjoys a quick read with a great story. Great job, Ms. Davis.
