Ivona Valeriu Knight has spent many centuries tracking the descendants of Prince Vlad Dracula set on retribution on behalf of her ancestors and everyone she loved. On a dark night, during a raging storm, trapped inside a tavern while amidst a crowd of insalubrious customers, she relates a tale of love and evil as she realizes not everyone is what they appear. Some begin to elaborate their own tales of being vampires while the smell of trepidation saturates the air.

Lucian finds Ivona fascinating. As he listens to her, he feels a chill of forewarning. He knew the room was housed with humans and mortals, but Ivona was neither. He cannot help but feel sorry for her Romanian history of brutality.

Ivona slowly expels her heart-wrenching story, banishing the room to silence, after everyone seeks shelter when a bridge washes out. The attentive listeners are moved by the way she expresses everything that has transpired through the years, especially Lucien who finds her captivating. Five hundred years is a long time living in the shadows and now Ivona's heart is full of hate for those accountable. As she slowly touches the heart of those present, Lucien is the one greatly pierced, knowing much of what she expresses. Now he wishes to answer her call, but Ivona is not certain whether he is comrade or rival.

Ivona Knight, Vampyress completely captures the reader's attention. The convincing characters draw the reader in with such intensity that it is hard putting the book down. Ms. Leigh creates a non-stop opening that allows the reader to feel they are right in the dramatic scene. This is a mesmerizing delight as it spins spine-tingling excitement. The character of Ivona is one that soon will not be forgotten. Leaving a lasting impression, I feel as if she is already buried within a piece of my heart. Ivona Knight, Vampyress is a most astonishing read.

*(The book does come with a warning for mature audiences. Language, violence, and sexual situations sometime apply).
