With every stroke of the pen McCarty has shown that amongst despair can live a spark of hope that if kept alive, anything is possible. McCarty is a master at creating a unique plot for a series and then giving each new book a fresh slant on the overall idea. Jace is part of the Shadow Wrangler series and can be read alone, however, I highly recommend the previous books to have a clearer understanding of the characters and overall plotline.

I really loved how Jace's character evolved during the book. His feelings didn't change but his understanding and handling of Miri was just perfect. His every action showed his commitment to her, his family, and her family. His dialogue with Miri during their intimate moments was enough to make you swoon. He was a great hero that the reader will have no trouble falling in love with. Miri had been through a lot and I wasn't prepared to like her but I did. Her character remained strong at the core and her love for her lost child is spot on. Her sacrifices will break your heart. I enjoyed reading more about the characters from the previous books also. The family dynamics really added a lot of depth to the plot. McCarty has infused this book with humor and warmth and added just enough action and conflict to make this reader very happy! I highly recommend Jace and all the previous books in this series.
