Jaci is an alien Alvian. She holds the job of a lab tech in her society and she is also kind to the human prisoners she takes care of. She accidentally doses herself with an experimental patch that allows Alvian's to feel emotion. It's overwhelming for her but fortunately two of the human prisoners, cousins Mike and Dave, are able to help her. They find they are resonance mates which means by Alvian law they are mated for life and they can not be separated. However, Jaci is on the run because she doesn't rank high enough to have been a subject for the experiment. Her capture will mean her death.

This series just gets better and better. I don't think it's entirely necessary to have read the previous books but you will have a better understanding of what is going on if you read the previous two books first (Hara's Legacy and Davin's Quest).

I love the whole idea of a resonance mate. To have someone or in the case of this book, two someones who are truly meant to be your mates is an awesome feeling to have. Jaci is thrust into feeling emotions by accident. How she handles it shows her intelligence and empathy towards others. She is a great heroine. Her mates, Mike and Dave, help her. Their intelligence is shown by how quickly they grasp the importance of hiding her emotions from her superiors. Their abilities help further the overall storyline of the series. I was excited to learn of more and different abilities some humans have and to get a glimpse of how they can further help other humans who are imprisoned by the Alvians. The sex scenes are more intensely erotic and emotional than any I've read in this series. The plot not only moves quickly in this book but it also is subtly setting up the future books in the series. You can tell the author has great plans for this series and I look forward to reading all of them.
