Jade and Johnny were high school sweethearts, but when their separate ways after graduation. Now eight years later, Jade is getting out of a bad marriage and ready to start her life over again without a man to mess it up. Just when she thinks she is about to have a fresh start Johnny walks back into her life. It seems that he is also going through a divorce and is about to be free. Can this be the chance that they have been waiting for all of these years, or is fate playing a cruel joke?

Johnny left Jade eight years ago to pursue an acting career and he has made a major success of it. He is one of the top actors in Hollywood and women drool over him wherever he goes. His mother's death brings him back home and to the one woman he could never forget, Jade. Had destiny given him and Jade a second chance to make their relationship work, or will Jade push him away for what happened between them in the past?

Jade's Star is a wonderful book that involves lead characters from two different races, however race is not the main issue of the book as is seen so often in interracial plots. Jade is a woman who is weak where her ex-husband is concerned and tends to be a more softhearted heroine. Johnny is the small town boy who does well and comes back home to everyone's delight. The sparks between Johnny and Jade are explosive and readers will love their interactions. The love scenes are very passionate, but with an air of romance. Carol McKenzie has done an excellent job of creating an interracial story where the characters are more important then their race.
