| When Jade visually connects with a stranger in a popular restaurant, she is stunned by the immediate connection. What is even more stunning is when she catches her husband cheating on her with his secretary. After divorcing him, she is contacted by Chris Madison, who wants Jade to become a model for her fashion line. Jade decides the change of scenery and occupation might do her some good, even though she’s not too sure about the whole modeling thing—or if she’s even “model material.”
But when she arrives in New York to meet up with Chris and is picked up from the airport by Chris’s husband and brother-in-law, she definitely knows she wants to stay awhile. The brother-in-law is none of than the god of a man she locked gazes with in the restaurant those few months ago. Riley recognizes her as well and things begin to heat up quickly. But will Jade’s ex-husband make things difficult for them? I loved the storyline of this story, but I don’t feel it was very well-delivered. There was quite a bit of telling and barely any showing, so I felt as if I was reading a bland play by play of events instead of a descriptive book. While I liked Riley’s character, I wasn’t very impressed by Jade. There were a lot of instances where I felt she should have stood up for herself a lot more than she did. That she should have been a lot angrier than she was. I felt like she didn’t have a backbone throughout most of the story, so that turned me off a little bit. I think with a little more description and if the story flowed better, it would be a wonderful read.
