After losing her husband and nearly her own life in a house fire, Jane Clark hasn't had the easiest of times settling back into her hometown. When her brother suggests she and her kids visit the local fire station to help overcome her fear of fire, she takes him up on the offer.

Fire captain Christian Nelson wants to help Jane -- the sister of his friend Mac -- quell her trepidation of fire. But when they finally meet, he finds he wants more than to help her. In fact, he wants to get to know her better.

Ms. Erickson is a fantastic author and this book -- which is the start of a new series for her -- was a real pleasure to read. The plot was well-written and from both character's perspectives the dialogue was easy to follow. The dialogue was both highly intense and emotional because of everything Jane had been through and how overprotective her family was. The sex scenes were hot and illustrated the budding attraction between the hero and heroine. What I liked so much about Jane was that with every interaction with Christian, her confidence seemed to keep growing until she felt she could do almost everything just the way she used to. While with Christian, I liked that the more he got to know Jane that he became certain she was the one he wanted a future with.

Overall, Jane's Gift is a brilliant start to a new series for this author and I can't wait to read the books that are sure to follow this one.
